PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Perform Level 1 CPET (Submaximal) studies on Pulmonary patients. Assists provider with all tasks relating to diagnostic testing and patient care. They will work closely with the patient to ensure they are comfortable during and after the diagnostic test. Schedules, conducts and calculates and reports results to providers. Ensures quality of testing. Submits patient charges for the services provided. CPET tech works closely with providers to provide optimal treatment to the patient. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors, staff and providers.

EDUCATION:

Minimum: Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy, Bachelors in Athletic Training or Bachelors in Exercise Physiology

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED: 6+months of PFT or CPET experience or Respiratory Therapy, Athletic Trainer or Exercise Physiology

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

1. Ability to operate and maintain diagnostic equipment.
2. Understanding of EKGS and Spirometry.
3. Understanding of electronic medical records and documentation requirements.
4. Ability to understand written protocols, lab reference manuals and memos.
5. Ability to manage a steady volume of work accurately in a busy surgical environment
6. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team-based decision-making culture.
7. Demonstrated ability to work independently resulting in effective outcomes and on-time performance.
8. Must work carefully and precisely with attention to detail.
9. Performs duties willingly and with initiative. Shares necessary information so co-workers can do the same.
10. Cooperates with other departments and work groups.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum: CPFT, CRTT, ATC, CAATE, CEP, RCEP

Desired: RRT, RCEP
